Winter Newsletter 2008
Beverley Guest House has seen many developments in the tourism
business. It seems amazing that when we took over 7 years ago and
decided to trade as non-smoking, that we were heavily advised against
it! How things have changed!
We have enjoyed meeting so many people, for us that is the best
thing about running a guest house. However in December when we were in
Australia visiting our son, we spent a day with one of our guests and
her family. It certainly made a change to be guests
ourselves! Everywhere we go we are on the look out for new ideas, and
ways in which to improve our guest house. In our experience the
welcome sets the tone of your break with us, and we do try to ensure
everyone relaxes whilst at Beverley.

The beaches in the North of Somerset are really large and provide a
lot of space for activities such as kite flying, sand yachting and
beach volley ball. The sand itself is excellent quality for building
sandcastles. We had an exhibition of marvellous sand sculptures, made
by professionals from all over Europe, last summer to prove it!
Weston is a good base for exploring the countryside around here
.Bristol and Bath are easy to reach by car or train. With caves at
Cheddar Gorge, and Wookey Hole on the route to Wells and Glastonbury,
the area has lots to offer if the weather is variable!
Near Weston there is the only Helicopter museum
www.helicoptermuseum.co.uk in the country and you can visit Concorde
in Filton, Bristol as well
www.concordeatfilton.org.uk In July
Holidays is held on the beach lawns and is very popular. Even more
popular is the Beach Race 11/12th October, which is the largest
endurance motorbike race held on sand in Europe.
Many people who visit Weston in the summer don't seem to know its
best secret!
The annual Illuminated Carnival always takes place in November, and as
usual it was spectacular! It is well worthwhile coming to Weston to
stay and experience it. There are various venues, as it tours North
Somerset for ten days. For more details please visit
www.somersetguyfawkescarnivals.co.uk. All the money raised goes to
charity, and just to encourage you we’ve included a photo of one of
last year’s floats.
We look forward to welcoming you to Beverley.
